Girlpeace is a Fifth World environmental research and education organisation. Among micronationalists the term Fifth World applies to small nations with strong and established national identities, and these nations can have small territories or be completely virtual. Therefore a Fifth World environmental organisation like Girlpeace is a micronational but serious environmental organisation.

Girlpeace is the first micronational environmental organisation which is more than a mere fund-raising vehicle for another Official World organisation (i.e. an organisation which operates within, and with the approval of, governments which are members of the United Nations). Girlpeace is also the first micronational environmental organisation with an original mission statement of its own.

Girlpeace is a non-profit organisation registered with the Micronational Professional Registry (MPR), and incorporated in the United Micronations Multi-Oceanic Archipelago (UMMOA).
